Driver Surrenders to End Chase

An erratic police chase through the San Fernando Valley ended Thursday night when the driver pulled to the curb and surrendered.

The driver of a dark-colored pick-up truck took police on a high-speed chase that wound through mostly clear surface streets.

Police tried to pull over the driver at Magnolia and Sepulveda boulevards in Van Nuys for a "minor traffic violation," according to Los Angeles Police Department Van Nuys Division.

The chase began about 9:45 p.m., police said.

At one point, the driver led police through the parking lot of an apartment complex. When he approached traffic at a red light, the driver cut through the seemingly empty parking lot of a gas station.

The chase ended shortly before 10 p.m. near Gain Street and Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Pacoima. The driver pulled to the curb in front of a home, opened his window and threw objects out.

The driver, who police said may have been armed, was taken into custody.
