An 18-year-old man is wanted in connection with the beating death of a transgender woman and web reality series star in Fontana, police announced Thursday night.
Dantjier Powell, of San Bernardino, may be trying to leave California, possibly on a bus, police said.
He is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 155 pounds with an average build and dark complexion.
Police said Powell is a suspect in the slaying of Domonique Newburn, 32.
Officers responding to a domestic violence call found Newburn dead in a Fontana apartment Tuesday night.
Witnesses said they saw a man leave the home in the victim’s Mercedes Benz, which was found Wednesday afternoon in a San Bernardino park, about 13 miles east of the scene.
Investigators turned their focus to San Bernardino, where detectives served search warrants at two homes and detained “several subjects,” police said.
Powell is believed to be with Jamie Nicole Cotton, 25, of Highland, pictured below. She is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of either Powell or Cotton is asked to call the Fontana Police Department at 909-356-TIPS.
