Calif. Domino's Delivery Woman Kidnapped, Raped: Police

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested by Antioch police after a Domino's delivery woman said she was kidnapped and raped at gunpoint Sunday morning while on her route.

Antioch Police Capt. Tammany Brooks said he can't remember in all his time with the department ever handling a case where a delivery person had been sexually assaulted. He added that the 22-year-old woman also had been robbed during the brutal attack. He said the teen, whose name is not being released because he is a minor, and the woman did not know each other.

Domino's reacted swiftly to the news.

"We are shocked and horrified by what happened," Domino's vice president of communications Tim McIntyre said in an email early Monday morning. "We couldn't conceive of something like this happening, especially on a Sunday morning."

According to Antioch Police Sgt. Dimitri Barakos, the woman was making a delivery on the 2800 block of Blue Bell Circle at 11:20 a.m. when she was robbed at gunpoint. She was then forced back into her vehicle by the teen who made her drive to an undisclosed location where he proceeded to sexually assault her.

Afterward, the delivery woman called police, and the teen was arrested near the area where the original robbery happened.

The teen was booked into juvenile Hall in Martinez. Despite his being a juvenile, there are a series of violent crimes under California penal code 707 (b) that allow prosecutors to charge offenders as adults. However, by Monday afternoon, the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office had not yet received the case.

As for Domino's, McIntyre said his company stood behind his employee.

"We will be working with the franchise owner to provide the victim with whatever kind of support she needs," he said in his email. "It is unthinkable that something like this could happen to an innocent woman, simply trying to earning a living. We hope the person who committed this heinous crime is prosecuted and punished to the fullest extent of the law."

Attorneys to Discuss Scheduling in LAX Shooting Trial

The 24-year-old man accused in a fatal shooting rampage that targeted Transportation Security Administration officers is expected in court Monday when attorneys discuss scheduling issues in the death penalty trial.

The trial of Paul Anthony Ciancia is scheduled to begin early next year. An 11-count indictment against him includes charges of murder of a federal officer, use of a firearm that led to the murder and act of violence in an international airport.

The New Jersey native who was living in Sun Valley at the time of the shooting has pleaded not guilty.

The Nov. 1, 2013 LAX Terminal 3 rampage began at a TSA checkpoint where Ciancia allegedly pulled a semi-automatic rifle from a duffel bag and opened fire, killing TSA agent Gerardo Hernandez, a 39-year-old father. Ciancia began walking upstairs but returned when he realized Hernandez was still alive and shot him again, according to court documents that cited witness statements.

The gunman then shot two more agents and an airline traveler before he was wounded by gunfire from officers in the terminal, according to authorities. He was carrying dozens of rounds of ammunition and a handwritten note that stated he wanted to kill TSA agents and "instill fear in their traitorous minds," according to authorities.

U.S. District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez previously said jury selection could start on Feb. 23, 2016.

The decision to seek the death penalty was up to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder after a review of thousands of pieces of evidence in the investigation.

High Surf Prompt Rescues Along San Diego Beaches

A high surf advisory was in effect for San Diego through Tuesday and lifeguards suggest swimmers and surfers use caution before getting into the water.

The high surf and tide prompted several rescues along San Diego County's beaches Sunday.

Around 2 p.m., a Good Samaritan in a nearby boat rescued two men who almost drowned near Bonita Cove in Mission Bay. The two men were in the water when they began to have trouble staying up, according to San Diego Lifeguards. The Good Samaritan spotted them and pushed over an inflatable boat towards the men. They were taken to UCSD Medical Center.

Hours earlier, around 9 a.m., San Diego lifeguards successfully rescued a surfer who was trapped in a cove at Sunset Cliffs due to the large surf. There were no injuries reported.

San Diego Lifeguards wanted to remind the public to only get in the water in areas with lifeguard supervision. As of now, Mission Bay, Sunset Cliffs, Windandsea are not supervised by lifeguards. They also advised parents to teach their young kids how to swim early on.

Tom Ammiano, Cop, Cab Driver Among Hit-And-Run Victims

Former California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, a community activist, a cab driver and a police officer were among the victims of a hit-and-run Mercedes driver over the weekend, causing a mess of mangled cars in the middle of the Mission District.

Luckily, no one was critically injured in the Saturday evening pileup at 1008 Mission Street. The police officer, however, went to the hospital, and Ammiano's friend, Kimberly Alvarenga, a political director at Service Employees International, suffered a gash over her head.

"I'm so-so," she said after the crash.

Ammiano, who is a legendary LGBT activist and also past president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, told NBC Bay Area he and Alvarenga were on their way to a Filipino community event when they were one of about five vehicles that were broadsided by a Mercedes about 7 p.m.

"I'm just glad we're OK," he said. "We're a little shaken. We were at a red light. We barely had enough time to just hold on."

Police Sgt. Monica MacDonald said that officers were able to catch up with the suspect after he ran and struggled with them and even tried to grab an officer's gun.

She said the Mercedes was also wanted in connection with an earlier attempted aggravated assault when the driver tried to run over an officer.

Several bystanders witnessed the hit-and-run, which left several cars in the middle of the street, their car horns blaring after having been set off by the impact of the crash.

"He ended up making a mess," witness Richard Butler said of the Mercedes driver. "He came straight through and plowed into all the cars."

"Stack of Uncharged Crimes" Cited in Knight Bail Review

A bail review hearing scheduled for Monday in a Compton courtroom for former rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight, charged in a hit-and-run that killed one man and injured another last month, has been delayed until March when prosecutors plan to argue he should remain behind bars.

The hearing for the 49-year-old co-founder of Death Row Records was postponed to March 20. Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Barnes said she has a "very large stack of uncharged crimes that I will be presenting with regard to bail" for  Knight, City News Service reported.

The judge sealed the documents involving the uncharged crimes to which the prosecutor referred, and they will not be made available to the public, according to CNS.

Knight appeared with his attorneys for the Monday morning hearing in a Compton courtroom. He is charged with murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run for allegedly running down the two men at a Compton burger stand Jan. 29. He was arrested by Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide investigators early on the morning after the crash and has remained jailed.

Knight was initially jailed on $2 million bail, but was ordered held without bail Feb. 2 because he was deemed "a possible flight risk" and a three-strikes candidate. The LA County Sheriff's Department added that "possible witness intimidation issues and a criminal past" also were factors.

Defense attorney David Kenner asked Superior Court Judge Ricardo Ocampo to scheduled the bail hearing after Knight pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one count each of murder and attempted murder and two counts of hit-and-run. Knight allegedly drove his pickup truck backward and forward, killing Terry Carter, 55, and injuring 51-year-old Cle Stone, in the parking lot of Tam's Burgers in the 1200 block of West Rosecrans Avenue near Central Avenue.

On Monday, Kenner asked the judge to allow Knight's personal physician to meet him in jail. The judge said the county has "more than competent doctors."

"Right now, we're at the mercy of what the Los Angles County jail decides is appropriate or not appropriate," Kenner said.

Knight was hospitalized for treatment of reported chest pains after a court appearance last Tuesday. He was back in the county jail before 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The judge Monday signed an order for county medical personnel to meet with Knight to  discuss his medical condition. Details have been sealed by the  court.

Lt. John Corina, a sheriff's homicide detective, told reporters late last week that investigators believe Knight intentionally struck the men and that he was not acting out of a reasonable fear. Corina said Knight had gotten into an argument at a film shoot for a promotional video for "Straight Out of Compton," a biopic of the Compton rap group N.W.A. Knight, and was told to leave.

The argument resumed about 20 minutes later at the restaurant about three miles away.

Knight's attorneys have claimed he was acting out of fear because as many as four men attacked him.

Mourners attended a funeral Saturday for Carter. He was remembered as a businessman who built classic lowriders and started a record label with rapper Ice Cube.

A San Bernardino County dance instructor was arrested Saturday on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a young girl, the second such arrest of a dance instructor in two weeks.

Thomas Cook, 22, teaches dance at two dance studios in San Bernardino County, according to the county sheriff's department, and regularly travels to competitions, including regularly to New York and Las Vegas.

He is accused of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a 13-year-old girl, first reported Friday. Because the Victorville native travels for work, investigators suspect he may have had contact with more victims.

Cook teaches at Dance Dynamics in Hesperia and a studio in Upland, detectives said.

Cook's arrest came just over a week after Jorge Tapia, 49, was arrested on similar charges, sheriff's deputies said.

Tapia allegedly had sexual contact with a child under 10 years old and worked as a private dance instructor in the Rancho Cucamonga area. He was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 30, and is being held on $1 million bail, deputies said..

Investigators ask anyone with information about Cook or who may have been a victim to call 760-947-1500.

Anyone with information about Tapia is asked to call 909-477-2800.

Man Burned When E-Cig Explodes: Officials

A San Diego man was rushed to a nearby burn unit after his electronic cigarette exploded Saturday, Cal Fire officials confirmed.

The man was inside Stage Stop Liquor store in Ramona when his e-cigarette exploded.

The blast not only injured the man but also shattered glass inside the store according to a Cal Fire spokesperson.

He was taken to UCSD Burn Center. No word on his condition.

Cal Fire officials say they don't know what caused his e-cigarette to explode.

However this isn’t the first time an e-cigarette user has been injured in an explosion.

E-cigarettes heat liquid nicotine into inhalable vapor without the tar and other chemicals found in traditional cigarettes.

Two weeks ago, the FAA issued a safety bulletin suggesting airlines ban passengers from putting e-cigs in their checked baggage after two recent incidents where it's believed the devices sparked fires in the baggage holds of airplanes.

Part of the FAA statement blamed the potential risk from a growing trend of users using after-market batteries or other components on their heating elements. So the agency suggests passengers pack e-cigarettes in their carry-on baggage.

One local vape shop owner told NBC 7 he’s never seen the products injure anyone and often tests the electronic cigarettes for safety.

“I like to run my things at very extreme temperatures to make sure that like if something does go wrong we don't put it on the market,” said Marlow Younan, owner of Vape Lounge. “I've had zero problems and nothing but great reviews."

“I've never seen a situation like that where something has exploded I mean it is an electronic device. If you don't take care of your electronic devices things can happen,” said Younan.

A pedestrian was killed early Monday in a Westside Los Angeles neighborhood when he was struck by an LAPD bomb squad officer who had just left work at Los Angeles International Airport.

The crash occurred just after midnight in the 13600 block of Culver Boulevard in Del Rey. Nearby streets were closed for the investigation and reopened late Monday morning

There are no sidewalks or crosswalks in the neighborhood. Officers described conditions as "foggy, dark" and said the pedestrian, a transient, was wearing very dark clothing.

"This is a tragedy for all involved," said LAPD Sgt. Barry Montgomery said. "Obviously, more so for the man who lost his life, but also for the officer who has to live with this for the rest of his life."

The officer, a 20-year department veteran who was in a bomb squad vehicle, did not initially realize he struck a person, Montgomery said. The officer, who is assigned to LAX, circled back twice to investigate before find the victim.

The officer attempted CPR and called paramedics, but the the pedestrian died at the scene,  police said.

Woman Says Hotel Guard Raped Her

A 49-year-old woman from North Texas says in a new lawsuit that a security guard at the Holiday Inn Northshore Chicago drugged and raped her while she was staying at the hotel on a business trip.

Karla Gress, who is from the Dallas, Texas area, sued the hotel, its owner, its director of operations and a hotel security guard Monday in Cook County Circuit Court.

Gress, a mother of three and a senior application consultant who provides training on software to medical staff, was in town for a week-long business trip on Oct. 2, 2013, her suit says.

According to her suit, Gress went to the hotel's restaurant Bar Louie after finishing up work at a nearby hospital. The hotel’s security guard may have placed a drug in her drink, Gress alleges in her suit.

Gress says the security guard entered her hotel room that evening without her consent and raped her. She says she woke up in her hotel room confused, before she started remembering what she believes happened.

"I realized I had been raped. I could hear his voice, and I remember not being able to stand up," Gress said in a press conference Monday.

"I not only want to make sure this does not happen to another soul, but I also want change," she  said. "I don't believe this is the first time this has happened and I don't believe it will be the last."

Skokie police said a report was filed afterward, and the security guard was arrested in January after months of investigation but ultimately released without being charged. The Cook County State's Attorney's office said the case is an open investigation, and they could not comment.

Gress’ attorney, Tara Devine, says those named in the suit “failed to take reasonable steps to secure the safety of their customers and guests.” Devine told reporters she hopes the lawsuit will encourage police to file rape charges.

“Mrs. Gress’ life will never be the same because of the hotel’s failure to protect her,” said Devine, an attorney with Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard PC. “The Holiday Inn Chicago Northshore-Skokie was negligent on many different fronts, having inadequate security measures, improper training of employees, and failure to follow what should be standard hotel procedures for the safety of its guests. Bottom line, this hotel employee never should have been in Mrs. Gress’ hotel room.”

The hotel's owner did not respond to NBC Chicago’s request for comment.

Men Bound in Duct Tape, Shot "Execution-Style"

Two men shot "execution-style" were found Sunday night in a garage on a sprawling property in San Bernardino County with their arms bound in duct tape behind their backs, police said.

Police used a bloodhound Sunday night to search for a third person, possibly a victim, seen bleeding, in handcuffs and running from an area where the bodies of two men were bound and shot in a Montclair garage. Witnesses also reported seeing a car leave the property, about 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, but no one had been located as of Monday morning.

"Whoever did this knew exactly why they wanted these people and why they wanted to kill them in this manner," said Sgt. Byron Kelly.

Police received a call of shots fired just before 7 p.m. in the 11000 block of Monte Vista Avenue in Montclair, said Lt. Brian Ventura of the Montclair Police Department. The call came from residents who were renting a single-family home on the property, which includes several structures and a nursery.

Police found the bodies of two men in their 30s dead from gunshot wounds in a detached garage of the home, Ventura said. Both victims had their wrists tied behind their backs. One of the victims also had his ankles bound in duct tape, police said

"They were both bound with their arms behind their backs and shot execution-style," said Kelly.

The men were shot at close range in the head, according to investigators. The slayings do not appear to be part of a home invasion or a random act, police said in a statement.

The detached garage was being used for an automotive repair operation and several vehicles were parked outside the garage. A woman who visited the property Monday morning identified herself as the sister of a victim. She told NBC4 the man worked as a mechanic at the garage and did not come home Sunday night.

She last spoke with her brother Sunday morning and had not heard about any conflicts with customers.

"I see a lot of cars go in and out," said neighbor Gricelda Barajas. "I'm worried because we live so close. I'm afraid."

No arrests were reported Monday morning. A detailed description of the four-door sedan seen leaving the property was not available and at least two people are sought in connection with the shooting deaths, police said.

As for the third victim seen running from the garage, Kelly said it is likely he does not want to speak with authorities.

"Clearly, he doesn't want to be involved with the authorities for fear if he is captured again by the same suspects, then he could be killed this time," said Kelly.

The deaths mark the first homicides of 2015 in Montclair. The San Bernardino County community reported three homicides last year.

18-Year-Old Feared Drowned Off Laguna Beach

Lifeguards weren't optimistic that they would find alive a young man missing since Sunday from a rocky beach in Orange County, officials said.

The 18-year-old visiting from Nevada was reported missing from Thousand Steps Beach in Laguna Beach at about 1:30 p.m. in high, dangerous surf.

Anthony Parnell's friends saw him wearing black shorts and no shirt when he was hit by high surf and swept away from the rocks he was standing on, they told firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority.

Search teams consisting of Orange County and Laguna Beach lifeguards, Coast Guard crews and first responders' helicopters called off their search before 11 p.m. Sunday with no sightings made, OCFA Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

The search resumed soon after daybreak Monday, with lifeguards and dive teams scouring the coast for Parnell. But officials didn't believe he'd be able to survive the night in the water.

Parnell played high school football in Las Vegas and had recently signed up to join the Army, according to his parents.

They released a statement that called Parnell "was a wonderful human being" who loved cooking, football, music, art and his family.

"In this very difficult time we ask that everyone respect our family and its privacy," Jennifer and Foster Parnell said, thanking the rescuers.

Nine people drowned at Orange County beaches last year, "all avoidable," said Concialdi, who urged beachgoers to watch raging surf from afar.

The high surf warning is in place through Tuesday afternoon, and Thousand Steps Beach remained closed both beacuse of the dangerous surf and the investigation into Parnell's disappearance continued.

The city of Newark is offering couples who want to build homes municipally-owned lots for $1,000 in a "Valentine's Land Sale Day."

Buyers will be required to make a $500 down payment and pay the additional $500 at closing. They are responsible for all closing costs and must submit a site plan approved by the City Planning Board.

Couples interested in buying one of the lots in Newark's two Model Neighborhood initiative areas, a 20-block part of the Lower West Ward and a 30-block section of the South Ward. Both areas were granted additional police presence and other city resources as part of a crime reduction-initiative announced in November.

Prospective buyers must show a commitment letter from a financial institution and/or proof of cash to cover the cost of the new home construction before they can close, and that construction must be completed within 18 months after closing, the city said.

The couple also has to live on the property for five years after getting an occupancy certificate.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said the Valentine's Day land sale is a unique way to promote home ownership while benefiting the city.

"We are observing Valentine’s Day with creativity and a commitment to Newark’s couples, by offering them opportunities to achieve their American dream of home ownership," Baraka said in a statement. "At the same time, we are turning vacant lots into homes that strengthen our communities, replacing blight with development. Out-of-the-box steps like these are how we will transform Newark into a City we can all believe in."

The sale will run Saturday, Feb. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at City Hall. For more information on the program, click here.

Devastated Family Takes Solace Knowing Daughter Saved Lives

Rachelle Adrian was supposed to be studying to be an elementary school school teacher. She was supposed to be on her way to share her new motorcycle with a friend just a few miles from her home on Super Bowl Sunday night.

She was supposed to survive the ride.

"It's kinda sad when your children die before you do," says Rachelle's father, Gary Adrian. "She was 25-years-old and full of life. She cared about a lot of people."

Just after 8 p.m. on Feb. 1, Rachelle promised a friend she'd come by to show off her new motorcycle. But that two mile ride lasted only a few blocks from her Lancaster home.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies say a car may have been pulling out of a mobile home park on Avenue I near East 20th Street, and they say Rachelle may have over-reacted to the driver's intentions, losing control of the bike.

Her brother Jhayrieson Adrian got word of the accident through a text from a friend.

"He said there was a motorcycle accident in Lancaster with a female," he said, "I called her multiple times again and she wasn't picking up so I called the hospital and sure enough she was there."

Doctors told her family there was little hope of survival.

"They said she flew like 60 feet," her father, Gary says. "There was a little hope that she would survive but they did some tests to see if she was getting oxygen or blood to her brain but she was brain dead."

After nearly a week in the intensive care unit, and upon learning Rachelle had signed up to be an organ donor when she renewed her California driver’s license, the family made the decision to say goodbye.

"I know she's the kind of person who would want us to be happy and not be sad," Gary says. “She cared more about other people than herself."

Even in those last minutes at Antelope Valley Hospital, it seemed Rachelle continued to give back.

"My daughter never told me that she was an organ donor," Gary says. His daughter was able to give her liver and her kidneys to two different people.

"So my daughter helped save two lives," he says.

It's a comfort for a family still grieving tremendous loss, but still so thankful for the support around them. Rachelle's family says some 200 people came to visit her in the hospital, even though she never awoke from her coma.

“All that love has allowed us to help deal with this situation a lot better," says brother Jhayreison. "If we didn't have all that love, it would be a lot harder for us."

And while the family does not know the identities of those who will benefit from the organ donations, Rachelle's father says he appreciates the idea that his daughter's life continues.

"It makes me feel good that a part of my daughter is still alive."

The family still has to pay for the medical expenses and are preparing for a funeral in the next week. A family friend has set up an account at this link: www.gofundme.com/lod7pg for anyone wishing to help defray some of the costs.

DWP Overcharges Customers With "Secret" Formula

Nathan Wells suspected the DWP was overcharging him, but he had no idea just how much until he started closely tracking his power use.

Wells, a mathematician, quickly discovered that the Department of Water and Power was socking him with a bill three times what it should have been. But when he contacted the agency, they refused to budge on the bill, and refused to disclose their "secret" formula.

"I think the LADWP is worse than the mafia," Wells told the NBC4 I-Team. "It's impossible to deal with them."

After hearing numerous stories like Wells' from consumers who say they are being gouged on their power bill, the NBC4 I-Team investigated, and found that the DWP routinely overcharges its customers. The agency levies these charges in the guise of "estimates" rather than billing you for the power you actually use. The DWP says "estimating a bill is a standard practice used by all utilities… This can occur for a variety of reasons."

Joel Grover will have the full story, the DWP’s response and four red flags to tell if your bill is inflated on NBC4 at 11 p.m.

Teacher Gets 10 Years in Sex Abuse

A former Riverside school teacher who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two female students after one of them came forward in a YouTube video that went viral was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday.

Andrea Cardosa, a former teacher and administrator at two Inland Empire schools faces up to 10 years and eight months in prison when she is sentenced at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

She avoided a potential life sentence with the guilty plea to three counts of lewd acts with a child, according to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. She was initially charged with 16 counts.

In the YouTube video, titled “A call to my childhood rapist teacher,” Cardosa admitted to the abuse after she was confronted by one of the two known victims.

The victim who posted the video knew Cardosa when she was a student at a Riverside school. The abuse took place between 1997 and 2001. By the time of the 2013 recording, Cardosa had become assistant principal at Alhambra High School.

A second victim came forward after the YouTube video went viral.

"I trusted her... but she preyed on my innocence," one of the victims said Monday. They have not been publicly identified because they were minors at the time of the abuse.

Civil lawsuits against Riverside Unified School District and Val Verde Unified School District by the victims are on-going.

Serial Stowaway Arrested in Florida

A Florida judge set bail on Tuesday at $55,000 for a Bay Area serial stowaway who landed herself in more trouble when she allegedly snuck aboard a flight without the proper paperwork and checked into a hotel as a "Biggest Loser" guest.

Marilyn Hartman was ordered back into custody after her brief court hearing in Nassau County, Florida where she faces two felony fraud charges and one misdemeanor count of trespassing after sneaking onto a flight from Minnesota to Florida. The judge appointed  a public defender for her and ordered her to return to court on March 5, according to NBC sister station First Coast News.

What remains unclear, is how Hartman snuck aboard another plane, again. Transportation Security Administration officials said they are investigating.

Hartman, who said she has an unrecognized illness called "whistleblower trauma syndrome," was taken into custody on Monday on suspicion of using a false name after landing at the Jacksonville International Airport, authorities said. As a whistleblower, Hartman has said previously that she was forced by the FBI to flee her house, rendering her homeless. Authorities have tried to get her help at a San Mateo County treatment center in the Bay Area, but she was uncooperative and left the program.

Nassau County Sheriff's officials said the 63-year-old used a false name from a real guest checking into the "Biggest Loser Resort" program on Sunday at the Omni Resort Amelia Island Plantation, where rooms go for $300 a night. She used Maria Sandgren's name, the sheriff's report states, and as it turns out, the real Maria Sandgren was staying at the hotel to participate in the "Biggest Loser Resort" fitness and weight loss program, as later noted by the coordinator of the program. Hartman was tipped off to that particular guest, when the van driver at the airport asked if she was Maria Sandgren, and she said yes.

Hartman disappeared when she was contacted by the resort to return to the front desk due to a booking error. But resort security on Monday found her. She had snuck into in a room that was being renovated, a sheriff's deputy noted.

This is far from the first time Harman has been arrested for sneaking on to a plane.

On  Aug. 4, she was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after police there say she got through security at Mineta San Jose International Airport and boarded an LA-bound flight.

Officials said Hartman has previously breached security at San Francisco International Airport and has a history of trying to get on flights without a ticket. She had at least seven encounters with police at SFO and was arrested four times, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. In an email on Tuesday, DA Steve Wagstaffe noted that Florida is treating her more seriously than other states, noting the high bail and setting her court date out for next month.

"Of course, when she was in our county jail," Wagstaffe said, "she seemed to enjoy intermingling with other inmates and correctional officers. Just another place to sleep at night. Airports, jails, she is quite the character."

In less than two weeks after being released from jail for violating her probation at LAX last year, Hartman was arrested at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix after being spotted loitering in the baggage claim area.

In court on Tuesday, Hartman told the judge that she is retired legal secretary and received $849 in Social Security each month.

NBC's First Coast News Jacob Long, NBC Bay Area's Kristofer Noceda and Lisa Fernandez and NBC LA's Christina Cocca contributed to this report.
