A 5-acre wildfire was spreading north of Big Bear Lake on Saturday. It did not immediately appear to threaten any structures, officials said.

The fire was reported about 5:30 p.m. near a fire station in the Fawnskin area (map) of San Bernardino County. The blaze was spreading among trees at a moderate pace, said Cal Fire spokesman Glenn Barley.

U.S. Forest Service officials tweeted some updates about the fire, saying three airtankers are dropping flame retardant.

The blaze erupted on a day that saw several fires break out in Southern California, the largest of which burned at least 170 acres and prompted evacuations in Monrovia.

Additional details were not immediately available. Check back for updates.
