Police on Sunday identified a man stabbed to death after a fight at a Santa Ana restaurant as Paul Anthony Garcia, 26, of Irvine.
Garcia was inside the El Chile Picante restaurant at 1919 S. Main St. when two men came in and began what Santa Ana police called a "confrontation" with him.
Once there, the men tried to drag Garcia outside of the restaurant, but he wouldn't leave.
“They grab him by the arm,” said Lt. Anthony Bertagna, of the Santa Ana Police Department.
“They attempt to get him to leave the location. He doesn’t.”
Garcia eventually left the restaulrant on his own and went across the street to the parking lot of the business where a fight broke out that led to the stabbing, witnesses said.
At one point, he managed to break away from his attackers and run across the street where he collapsed, police said.
Officers found Garcia on the ground with at least one stab wound. He died at a hospital, police said.
His assailants have still not been identified.
