At least three people died in a fiery car wreck in South Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, police said.
The violent crash came when two vehicles collided in the 800 block of West Manchester Boulevard (map) just before 10:30 p.m., a witness at the scene said.
Three occupants of one car died in the auto fire, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, which reported only one car involved, having hit a light pole.
A fourth man's condition was unknown after that victim was taken to the hospital, said Sgt. Vargas with the Los Angeles Police Deparment's South LA Traffic Division. She initially said only two died in the flames.
Video from the scene showed flames towering above a wrecked car on a sidewalk while a firefighter worked to extinguish the blaze.
Skid marks crossed the sidewalk, and a lightpole was knocked to the ground, aerial video showed, as seen below.
