A 20-year-old male UCLA student was in county jail Saturday after he allegedly assaulted a female student at a fraternity party early Friday morning.
The university said Paul Meyer was booked on charges of intent to commit rape and false imprisonment.
He was originally held on a charge related to an alleged choking of the female student but that was changed, according to a spokeswoman in UCLA's media relations department.
Meyer was detained without incident at about 2:30 a.m. outside the Theta Chi fraternity house in the 600 block of Gayley Avenue, police said.
Alcohol was being consumed at the party, university police said Friday.
The victim was treated at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and released, police said.
Meyer was booked by campus police around 8:15 p.m. Friday and was being jailed at the Inmate Reception Center near downtown Los Angeles at 1:26 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department inmate locator website.
The website listed Meyer's initial hearing as April 4 at the Airport Courthouse near LAX.
