A 20-year-old UCLA student was arrested Friday on suspicion of attempted murder of a female peer following a fraternity party off-campus, university police said.
Paul Meyer allegedly choked the victim -- also a UCLA student -- about 2:30 a.m. outside the Theta Chi fraternity house in the 600 block of Gayley Avenue, police said. He was arrested without incident outside the fraternity house, west of the Westwood campus.
Police said alcohol was available at the get together. Authorities would not say the gender of the alleged victim, who was treated at a hospital and released.
Members of the Theta Chi fraternity said the organization's president is expected to release a statement on the incident.
