An elusive bank robber wanted in connection with a four-year string of heists in the South Bay area has been arrested by FBI agents, authorities said Tuesday.

Julio Porres, 40, of Lennox, dubbed the "Make It Quick" bandit by the FBI, was taken into custody in connection with at least 12 bank robberies that date back to January 2009.

The most recent heist happened in September at a U.S. Bank branch in San Pedro that the "Make It Quick" bandit had robbed three times before, authorities said.

All of the robberies occurred at U.S. Bank branches inside grocery stores in Carson, Gardena, Inglewood, San Pedro and Torrance beginning in January 2009, according to the FBI.

Authorities said he was given the "Make It Quick" moniker based on instructions he gave to tellers while demanding cash. Tellers told investigators the bandit would often wander the aisles of the grocery stores before approaching the counter.

A $10,000 reward was posted in June for information leading the robber’s arrest and conviction.

A tip led to the arrest of Porres, who was in custody on an unrelated charge when federal investigators found him, the FBI said.
