Police are still searching Monday for at least four men seen leaving the scene of a shooting at a Long Beach gas station that left two bystanders -- including a 10-year-old boy-- injured.
No one has been taken into custody after the 10-year-old boy was critically injured in the shooting Saturday, said spokeswoman Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department. Details regarding the boy's condition Monday were not immediately available, Pratt said.
Surveillance footage showed four men running through a gas station at the corner of Long Beach and Del Amo Boulevards around 8 p.m. Shots struck the 10-year-old boy sitting in his parent’s SUV at pump No. 1.
The boy said his chest “felt hot” and his mother saw blood running down from his chest, said Sam Faizi, the gas station manager.
The boy’s parents rushed him to a Long Beach police substation before officers took him to a nearby hospital, Pratt said.
Another bystander at the gas station was hit by the crossfire, but his injuries were non-life threatening, Pratt said.
A group of men were arguing near the gas station right before the shooting occurred, Pratt said.
The family was in the “wrong place at the wrong time,” Pratt said.
