An autopsy was expected on Friday for a man fatally shot by Huntington Beach police after pulling out what looked like a pistol but what turned out to be a replica.

Ian Berrier, 20, of Huntington Beach, (pictured below) was shot by police near Hoskins Lane and Milo Drive on Thursday.

Police were called to the area because a caller reported that a man and a woman had been arguing and the man had threatened the caller with a gun, police said.

Police fired when Berrier pulled what they thought was a gun on them, police said.

Police later determined the weapon was a replica semi-automatic pistol (pictured here), police said.

Police have not released the name of the officer, who was not injured.

Following Huntington Beach Police Department protocol, the Orange County Sheriff's Department will investigate the shooting, Huntington Beach police said.
