Authorities discovered a burned body early Wednesday in the Castaic area north of Los Angeles.
The body has not been identified and authorities have not determined the gender or age.
Los Angeles County firefighters found the remains after a report of a brush fire at 6 a.m. on Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, about 40 miles north of Los Angeles.
Aerial video showed several Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department vehicles along Lake Hughes Road. The body was located on the side of the two-lane road.
Authorities are conducting a search for a missing college student north of the location in the Castaic Lake area, but there was no indication the discovery is connected to that investigation.
