Friday marks embattled San Diego Mayor Bob Filner’s last official day in office and some of his accusers, as well as high-profile attorney Gloria Allred, plan to host a press conference as a farewell to Filner.
According to a press release from Allred, the news conference to “celebrate Mayor Filner’s last day” will be held at 10 a.m. at the Westin on West Broadway in downtown San Diego.
Allred will be joined by some of Filner’s accusers, including 67-year-old great-grandmother Peggy Shannon, nurse Michelle Tyler and Marine vet Katherine Ragazzino. The women will offer their reactions to Filner’s last day as mayor of San Diego.
The release says Allred will also display some “parting gifts” from her to Filner for his “going away party.”
By 5 p.m. Friday, Filner will no longer be mayor. San Diego City Council president Todd Gloria will step in immediately as interim mayor. A special election to determine a new mayor is slated for Nov. 19.
Meanwhile, sources close to Filner tell NBC 7 he’s attending continued, intensive therapy on a weekly basis to help with his undisclosed behavioral issues.
