Detectives asked for the public's help to break up an organized crime ring that rips off shipments of food and energy drinks using fraud and big-rig trucks, police said Tuesday.
The suspects were believed to belong to Armenian organized theft groups that have targeted shipping companies across the nation, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.
Last week, Los Angeles police detectives found a cold-storage warehouse in the 12900 block of Saticoy Aveune in North Hollywood that contained "beef, shrimp, energy drinks and various frozen foods," the statement said.
The items had been reported stolen by thieves posing as legitimate truck drivers who used forged documents to pick up cargo, according to the statement.
