Rescuers are searching for a man who went missing after he jumped into a New Jersey river to help two children who were apparently struggling as they swam, officials say.
Two men jumped into the Raritan River near the Sadowsky Parkway at about 8 p.m. Wednesday to help a 7-year-old child and an 11-year-old child who were starting to go under, according to the Perth Amboy fire chief.
One of the men was able to rescue the two children and return to land.
Firefighters and first responders were resuming the search for the missing man Thursday morning.
