An argument involving two neighbors led to a shooting Tuesday night in Palmdale that left a father of two girls dead.
Homicide detectives responded to the 159th Street East (map) home after a man allegedly shot and killed his next-door neighbor. At least one of the victim's two daughters -- a 14-year-old -- was home at the time of the shooting.
The two men were consuming alcohol in the victim's garage before the shooting, according to investigators.
"After their verbal disagreement, then suspect returned and shot the victim," said Lt Eddie Hernandez.
The shooting was reported at about 8:20 p.m. in the Lake Los Angeles section of Palmdale. Two rounds were fired and a handgun was recovered, according to authorities.
The suspect was identified as 58-year-old Michael Norton. He was booked on suspicion of murder and held on $1 million bail.
A court appearance was scheduled for Thursday, according to jail records.
