A body found in a burned car at a Rialto park was identified as a missing Fontana man, the San Bernardino County Cororner's Office confirmed on Saturday.

The body of Alejandro Padilla, 40, was found in his burned 2009 Nissan Versa at Flores Park, about six miles away from his home where he had been attacked in his driveway and abducted on his way to work Friday morning by an unknown assailant, police said.

An autopsy would determine the cause of death, officials said.

The incident began about 5 a.m. Friday when neighbors called police, saying they could hear a person calling for help in the 6800 block of Beechcraft Avenue, police said.

Police saw fresh tire tracks in the grass of the front yard and blood splatters on the driveway, garage door and utility box.

Padilla's wife and two adult daughters issued a tearful plea Friday night.

"I can’t think of anybody that would want to hurt him," said his wife Lilliana Pelayo.

"We miss you; we're worried," she added. "Please, come home."

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Fontana Police Department at 909-350-7700.
