A small plane towing a banner crash landed alongside the busy 405 Freeway in Long Beach on Saturday afternoon, leaving the pilot with minor injuries, Federal Aviation Administration officials said.
The Cessna 150 had just departed from Long Beach when it hit a power line and came to rest on an embankment near the freeway’s northbound lanes at Walnut Avenue (map), said Lynn Lunsford of the FAA.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash caused a traffic jam on both sides of the freeway.
Police advised motorists to avoid the area as crews worked to restore power and traffic signals.
