A crash that sent at least four people to hospitals on Sunday night shut down lanes of the 134 Freeway in Pasadena.

All but one of the eastbound lanes of the 134 at South Orange Grove Boulevard were shut down after the 7:15 p.m. crash, the California Highway Patrol said. All lanes were reopened by 9:30 p.m., officials said.

The lanes were estimated to be shut for at least three hours while crews worked the crash scene.

Details about the crash and victims were not immediately available.

Early reports indicated that at least four people were taken to two hospitals for unknown injuries, the CHP said.

Eastbound lanes of the nearby Foothill Freeway were also shut down and vehicles were being diverted off the highway.

More than an hour after the crash, traffic was backed up for about four miles west to the Glendale Freeway.

CHP investigators belive the driver behind the wheel of a blue Dodge Challenger set off the collision, losing control at high speeds and hitting the center divider before slamming into an Acura that burst into flames.

While speed was a factor, the CHP said, they are investigating whether alchohol contributed to the crash.
