Two men were shot by police officers in Santa Ana Friday afternoon, according to law enforcement officials.
The shooting happened about 3:10 p.m. near 15th Street and Grand Avenue (map), said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, with the Santa Ana Police Department.
Driving a stolen car, the men were being chased by officers Friday afternoon, Bertagna said. The pursuit ended in a crash, the men ran from the car and gunshots rang out, he added.
The pair was taken to the hospital where they were listed in serious but stable condition.
Police said Travis Stuart Mock, 29, was driving the car during the chase. Jason Erling Hallstrom, 41, was a passenger. Both have been booked for grand theft auto with possible additional charges, police said.
No officers were hurt in the exchange, Bertagna said.
Grand Avenue was shut down Friday evening for the investigation, snarling traffic as motorists tried to make their way northbound on Grand Avenue toward the 5 Freeway.
