A body found in a trash can left on the side of a Brea road was identified Saturday, police said.
Jose Ramiro Baez Paredes, 46, was also known as Ramiro Baez Parades, police said. The man's last known address was in Santa Ana.
A commuter who drives along Brea Canyon Road daily noticed the trash bin on a remote stretch of the rural road about a week ago. On Friday, the driver who decided to investigate the container “opened it up, and, when they realized there was a body inside” called police, Brea police Lt. Jerry Brakebill said.
The cause of death had not yet been determined, he said. The discovery is being investigated as a homicide.
Police closed off Brea Canyon Road from Central Avenue to Tonner Canyon Road for the investigation.
