The search for a man with a gun at a Veterans Administration buildingin North Hills was called off Tuesday afternoon after no suspect or weapon was found.
Tests and procedures had been canceled as Los Angeles police responded to a report of a possible security threat.
At about 8:30 a.m., police received a report of a man with a gun on the campus (map), but authorities said they have been unable to confirm the reported sighting. The description of the individual -- a white male with gray hair -- came from two witnesses, according to police.
Officers searched the area in the 16000 block of Plummer Street and detained one person, but did not identify that individual as a suspect.
A large-scale evacuation was not ordered, but some patients and staff were seen outside the building as officers searched parts of the campus.
"I've been waiting for a whole month, and now it's canceled," said patient John Savala.
Marcellus Nance arrived at the building in a wheelchair to find out he could not enter.
There were no reports of shots fired.
The Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center on Plummer Street is part of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. The campus is just north of Plummer Street between Haskell Avenue and Woodley Avenue.
