The city of Long Beach is throwing a community baby shower for needy new mothers on Wednesday, where officials will hand out donated care packages to designated moms.
The shower was scheduled to be held at the Long Beach Health and Human Services Department at 2525 Grand Ave.
Care packages will include items such as diapers, blankets, hats, socks, baby wipes, bibs and mittens. They were being assembled Wednesday and were set to be distributed later to specific mothers in need.
Donors this year include the Junior League of Long Beach, Stitches From the Heart, and Quilters by the Sea, along with other groups, churches and residents, according to a city statement.
