Inland Empire businesses are making extra crash as thousands of race car enthusiasts visit the area for NASCAR weekend.

“We have people coming in from the general area, maybe 50 to 100 miles radius outside of the race track. We also have people coming in from all over the country, so it really impacts the local economy,” said David Allen, president of the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

It's still unknown just how much money the NASCAR Auto Club 400 race will bring to the local economy, but officials say in the past it generated nearly $100 million.

Some hotels were fully booked and restaurants were packed as the weekend got underway.

"We've been booked for months for this weekend," said Andrew Fuentes of the Ayres Suites in nearby Ontario.

The three-day event began Friday with practices of both NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series, according to the NASCAR website.

California native Kevin Harvick won his second Xfinity Series on Saturday.

The race for the Sprint Cup Series will take place Sunday afternoon.
