Traffic was snarled along the Golden State Freeway on Monday as firefighters battled a 25-acre brush fire in Castaic.
The fire, which started before 4 p.m., broke out in brush off the northbound side of the 5 Freeway at Templin Highway (map), officials said.
Aerial footage near the source of the fire showed a blackened cab of a big rig on the side of the highway.
Paradise Ranch Mobile Home Park was in the path of the fire, fire officials said, but there was no immediate word on evacuations.
All but one lane of the northbound side of the highway, which begins its pass through the Grapevine in that area, was closed as fire crews battled flames.
