Temituoyo Oroye is a soft spoken 19 year old who considers himself a skater, so he can't comprehend why a gang member stabbed him for what he said was no apparent reason.

He was stabbed outside an In-N-Out restaurant on April 10 in an incident captured on surveillance camera and in front of other customers, police said.

"When it happened I was in shock, scared for a little bit," Oroye said. "That's never happened to me before."

It was after a day of skateboarding that Oroye and his friends went to the In N Out on Gale Avenue in Hacienda Heights.

Oroye was standing alone in this corner of the parking lot when he was approached.

"Some dude came up to me and asked me where I'm from, if I bang, all these questions about gangs and stuff," he said. "I was like, 'I don't bang. I don't do any of that stuff. I just skate'"

That's when the suspect stabbed Oroye in his left biceps. He needed nearly a dozen stitches to close the wound.

"He could've hit his heart. That's how close it was," said Detective Shawn O'Donnell, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Surveillance video captured by the many cameras at the In N Out showed the assailant's silver or grey Kia Sorrento arriving before he and a female friend walk up to the take out window.

Both are Hispanic, in their 20s. She was wearing light blue scrubs and may work in the medical field.

Anyone with information was asked to call the LA County Sheriff's Department at (626) 330-3322.
